Esports: What Are They?

Plainly and simply, exports are electronic sports. What this means is that thousands of people play different video games as a sport. It may sound ridiculous to many, but it is no different than football or soccer. The argument against esports is that you don’t exercise and it doesn’t take a lot of skill.  Many people in the esports community will argue that this statement is completely false because esports actually make you use your brain and reactions extensively.

The reason esports should be promoted and accepted is because it brings a whole new and different community of people into the sports scene. Many people in the esports community could never really enjoy regular sports, and now that they have an esport they can attend events to have the true fan experience, which they never had before. And yes, there are events for esports; these events include tournaments for many famous games. These tournaments are not just fun, though; every esport is extremely competitive and grants hundreds of thousands of dollars in prize money. The games that one can find in the esports scene are StarCraft, World of Warcraft, League of Legends, Team Fortress 2, Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm, Dota, and Call of Duty.
